CHEF/MATE - MARIE
Chef Marie is of French Caribbean descent, born in Guadeloupe, and raised in the South of France. Her culinary journey began at the age of 21, and it was through her passion for wine that she enrolled in the Cooking & Catering School of Avignon. Here she immersed herself in the world of wine and culinary art. Her career commenced as a successful sommelier in renowned Michelin-starred restaurants and luxury establishments in Europe. After several years immersed in this high-end culinary environment, Marie had mastered French etiquette catering, hospitality management, and wine tasting and pairing.
Marie then felt a strong desire to reconnect with her roots so she took a one-way flight back to Guadeloupe, her Caribbean birthplace. There, she discovered the abundance of nature and embraced outdoor living, fostering a passion for botany and sustainable practices. Initially working as a house manager for a notable family, she began cooking occasionally for them and eventually ended up taking on the role of their personal chef. It was in this context that she discovered a new realm in the culinary world and began developing her talents further.
When COVID-19 hit the world, it brought with it an unexpected turn of events for Marie. Destiny led Marie to a catamaran, where she spent a week as a chef for charter guests in Saint Barthélemy. This experience ignited a deep connection between Marie and the sea, and this is when she decided to join the yachting industry and to never look back. Familiar with high-end environments and demanding expectations, Marie quickly expanded her network and seized opportunities that took her to work on large catamarans in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and the Pacific. These adventures and encounters with people from all walks of life have fulfilled her, and she absolutely loves sharing those enriching and fun moments.
Today, Marie is highly committed to preparing healthy cuisine. She is an expert in crafting vegan and gluten-free menus. She feels that being at sea brings out the best of her culinary talent, and hosting guests from all around the world in this environment is for her a privilege to share unforgettable experiences, offering them the best week of their lives aboard a yacht.
