Captain: Marcus McClain
Captain Marcus has lived on all of the US Virgin Islands: St Croix, St
John and St Thomas and has been entertaining island visitors here
for the past 6 years. On St. Croix he worked in the service industry as
well as running various day sail boats as first mate and then, Captain.
Marcus most recently delivered a yacht to Portugal and spent the
summer of 2014 skippering charter yachts in the Mediterranean. In
2015, Marcus and Chef Risa partnered as crew to run Sognare,
establishing it as one of the busiest and most popular catamarans in
the Virgin Islands. He holds a USCG 100ton Masters License and a
Born and raised in New York, Chef/First Mate Risa's love of food and
creative cuisine began early. Growing up in a family of competitive
home chefs, she borrowed her first cookbook from the library at age
eight and has had a fascination with delicious food ever since.
With ten years in the hospitality field under her apron, Risa has honed
her service skills in addition to her culinary experience. Combining
her love for food and travel, the yachting industry was a natural fit for
Risa and after two years globetrotting and learning about
international cuisine, Risa began working as a hostess and freelance
chef on charter yachts in the Mediterranean and in the Virgin Islands.
Teamed with Captain Marcus aboard catamaran Sognare in 2015 in
the Virgin Islands, Risa enjoyed a busy and successful year serving
incredible cuisine to their lucky charter guests. Risa has become
known for her creative food presentations as well as her delicious
meals. She particularly enjoys working with the local Caribbean
ingredients and infusing some of her Jamaican born mother's recipes
into her cuisine.
Marcus and Risa are excited to be aboard the beautiful NEVERLAND.
They look forward to welcoming guests to the island paradise they
have come to call home and showing guests the time of their lives.
