Captain: Paul Wiltshire
Captain Paul Wiltshire
British-born Captain Paul Wiltshire is living the dream. He has been a sailing devotee, sports enthusiast and international traveler since he was seven years old. He spent his summer holidays on the coasts of St Tropez, St Raphael and St Maxime, a stalwart mini-mate aboard his two uncles' boats.
Paul never stopped sailing, even while building a successful business. Finally, he was able to afford his first boat, a Beneteau 473 Clipper. The first Caribbean island he reached under sail was St. Lucia, he says it will always holds a special place in his heart. Exploring stunning places on his beautiful yacht ignited his passion for life at sea. So, based on a lifetime of yachting experience, diligent research and careful thought, he purchased SHEILA-T (named after his Mum), with a goal to operate the ultimate charter catamaran.
Paul is an eclectic man with many talents. Post-educational interests have led to certifications in diverse fields, from Driving and Road Haulage to Mechanical and Electrical. Over the past 20 years he has toured the world as a Sound Engineer, or as a DJ, driven articulated lorries, and qualified as a Padi Divemaster. Needless to say, he is a delightful raconteur, witty and articulate, with a playful sense of humor. However, despite a casual demeanor, he is an extremely capable Captain, someone with whom you feel completely safe in any situation. Charter guests seeking an interactive charter where fun and laughter are guaranteed should not hesitate to climb aboard!
Chef Viviane Huguet
Viviane Huguet was born in Thonon-les-Bains, France. She lived in both coastal and inland towns of France, but always preferred being on the water. This geographical variety allowed her to excel in a variety of outdoor sports; climbing, mountaineering, rafting, canyoning, canoeing, caving, hydro-speeding, skating, snorkeling and scuba diving. Exploring and adjusting to new places and people fueled a passion for travel and hospitality. When Viviane was 19 years old she left France for London and launched her culinary career.
Viviane’s first job in London was at a Michelin three-star restaurant. Working there for two years provided an amazing opportunity to perfect her professional cooking skills. She returned to France and settled into a “normal life” while raising her four children. When her marriage dissolved, she began a new chapter in her life, travelling and backpacking to many countries. She roamed deserts in a four-wheel drive. She discovered new passions. From a top marketing executive, to a milliner creating fabulous hats, then back to university for a degree in education.
Viviane has been a rescue diver for over 20 years. It was her enthusiasm for scuba-diving that naturally led her to yachting. She crewed on a catamaran across the Atlantic, worked on a motor yacht in Mexico and sailed around the Caribbean. For her, nothing compares to the sound of wind filling the sails, except perhaps, the joy she gets from cooking for her guests. Viviane recalls that, “My grandmother was a good cook, my mother was a great cook and I’ve always enjoyed fine food. My friends anticipate having dinner at my place because I always surprise them with tremendously interesting recipes. Wine has always been a part of my life. As a kid, I loved to smell the wines; as I grew older, to savor them.”
In her spare time, Viviane enjoys music, theatre, opera, reading and spending time in the water. She’s very handy; fixing things on a boat, sewing, even face-painting, to the delight of younger guests. She is lively, witty, empathetic and endearing. In addition to being very well fed, guests aboard Sheila T will likely become friends for life.
1st Mate Pete Barrow
Pete is a a wiz at a lot of things, but humility prevents him from letting on. He is charming, resourceful, witty and a highly competent mariner. He is a captain with long-term yachting experience, a chef trained at award-winning restaurants, and a mate qualified as a captain. As a host, he insures that his guests have a remarkable charter experience. He means it when he says, "We understand that this is probably our guests' major holiday, and it's important to us that this is their best ever holiday."
Pete grew up in a tiny village in the midlands of England with his parents and five siblings. His high-energy allowed him to excel in many activities on land and water. He learned to sail on the river Avon. He is a keen canoeist, competing in K1's. He was a club level quadrathon competitor and qualified climbing leader. His yearning to explore and experience inspired him to work his way around most of the UK.
Pete has always been around boats, so it was a natural progression to sailboats. He achieved his sailing certifications with the RYA, through all the dingy sailing qualifications to Ocean Skipper level. Everyone feels safe and relaxed with Pete at the helm. He explains, "I know 'Sheila T inside out. I monitored the build completion and was there for her launch in La Rochelle. I fitted all of the extras myself. I sailed her across the Bay of Biscay and down to the Canary Islands, then across the Atlantic to her new home in the Caribbean. It was a magnificent journey."
Pete is a Padi Scuba diving Instructor and has enjoyed sharing some of the world's most fabulous reefs with friends and guests. Sheila-T is equipped with dive gear for certified guests. When he has a bit of spare time, Pete says he enjoys, "scuba diving, eating, paddle boarding, canoeing, eating, hiking and eating." In addition to his wit, guests will appreciate his professional ability to handle any situation with calm precision and to be attentive without being intrusive. His primary objective is for guests to have a fabulous charter. His motto: There is always a way to make it happen.
