Captain: Bijan Kalantari

Nationality: US

Captain Bijan Kalantari

A US Citizen and a New Yorker since the late 1950's, Bijan has been sailing most of his life.

Aboard his first boat ANITA KAY, a Sparkman & Steven's ketch, he explored much of the Eastern Seaboard, Nova Scotia, the Bahamas & Bermuda.

After retiring from his life on land Bijan began an annual migratory pattern offering charters in New York Harbor during the summer and the Virgin Islands in the winter.
When Bijan purchased ANAHITA his migrations changed to chartering in the Mediterranean during the summer and the Caribbean in the winter.

To date Bijan has sailed to the Med five times and his experiences have taken him as far east as the Greek Islands and Turkey.

Bijan's quiet nature and gentle manner belie his accomplished and fascinating background. Prior to chartering he enjoyed several very successful careers - the first was in classical ballet, performing with the Metropolitan and New York City Opera Ballets. Next he opened Lothar's - the French high fashion sportswear boutique on fifth avenue in New York, and North Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills with his late wife. In 1975 he established his own real estate development company in New York and continued as a developer and builder until his early retirement.
Bijan is a genial charter host and expert sailor whose charter guests look forward to cruising with time and time again.

Chef / Mate Roseanne Morin

As chef and owner of the Cortina restaurant in North Bay Ontario, Roseanne was known for her original cuisine and unfailingly high standards. Welcoming culinary challenges, Roseanne jumped at the chance to work with the Canadian Olympic Team developing high-energy fitness-oriented meals for athletes in training.

Her first sailing experience opened her eyes to being a sea-going chef, a career which Roseanne embraced with gusto! Prior to joining ANAHITA in 2008 Roseanne worked for four years on charter and private yachts in the British and US Virgin Islands, St. Martin and the Grenadines.

Snorkeling and scuba diving top the list of Roseanne's favorite pastimes. In Ontario she volunteered in a soup kitchen for the homeless and still has a special interest in humanitarian holidays in Thailand's Changsian Babies Home.

Roseanne's menus encompass a variety of international cuisines and she cheerfully accommodates special requests, offers tasty adaptations for special diets and loves to create original hors doeuvres and desserts.

Dear Bijan and Roseanne:

Thank you so much for the most fabulous and exciting vacation. Bijan your sailing style and expertise set us at ease. We are glad the tropical storm fizzled, but we felt secure in your capable hands throughout. Thanks as well for all the care you showed the kids, with the blaster, paddleboard, and kayak. They had tremendous fun. Roseanne, we shall never forget your delicious meals and graciousness. We are particularly appreciative of the attention to ensure the kids' various culinary references. We are more than aware of the challenges they bring! Can't think of a better vacation to help ride the pandemic. Thank you again for everything.
Hope our paths cross again. Best of luck to both.

We had a wonderful time on ANAHITA- BVI's TO ANEGADA
Bijan and Roseanne were an excellent crew and hosts for our family. Delicious meals from morning till night. Roseanne is an excellent chef and with her delightful meals will teach your kids to eat what is put on the table within two meals !
Fun adventures, good snorkeling, and a captain with so many skills; I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Bijan on top of the boom- Now those ballet days really stuck with him.
Thank you so much, we had fun, learned, got along great, and ate well! We wish you both the best of luck in your next adventures. Last and far from least that you for jumping in and sailing from Trinidad to save our holiday. The Weavers- Norfolk, VA

Roseanne and Bijan- Thank you so much for our re-visit to the Grenadines. We had a wonderful week on the beautiful Anahita. WE look forward to your visiting us sometime in North Carolina.

Dear Bijan and Roseanne
I just had a lovely call with Peter who said that they had a great trip and described the two of you as “delightful and great company. It could not have been better from the service side of things.” They felt that they discovered wonderful new friends. They loved Anahita - how powerful and strong it was and said that they could not have been in better hands. I think that they were very impressed by your sailing ability and marveled at how you did it the old-fashioned way without a Raymarine at the helm. (LOL)
They loved the meals and the itinerary. They especially liked the anchorage on Carriacou., President
Thanks for showing them a great time. It must have been fun to have some true sailors on board.
Fair winds, Trish Cronan

Dear Bijan :

Our sea is not as blue as the MED and the water is usually cold, but we have impressive chalk cliffs to make the scenery very beautiful. I am savouring the memories of my first sailing experience, and thank you again for your choice of beautiful spots in which to anchor, and planning that spectacular regotta of classic yachts in Antibes. I hope this note arrives before you leave St. Tropez and send my best wishes for a wonderful summer. Love Lee

Thank you very much both Bijan and Roseanne for a wonderful week on Anahita. In spite of the fact that the wind was not much in our favor, she was a lovely boat to sail and we enjoyed exploring the different islands, and particularly our favorite spot on Miljet. Lots of brilliant snorkeling, kayaking, wind surfing and climbing, (and cliff jumping for the boys). We were looked after brilliantly by you both. So we had a lovely relaxing time. Roseanne particularly, thank you for endless delicious meals, and all your staying over a hot stove while we were having fun.
A brilliant, memorable , and relaxing week! With many thanks from the Collins family.

When I first planned my sabbatical I had vague thoughts of a sailing adventure and challenge beyond what I could do in home waters. through luck and providence I had the pleasure of living with you two for a month and half sailing, (Or motoring), more that 5000 miles and seeing a slice of the world. I am grateful beyond words for your hospitality, companionship, and graciousness.
I look forward to sailing with you again, Bijan & Roseanne, and wish you more marvelous adventures!! Love, Jeannette A.K.A. The Very Reverant Dr. DeFriest

We thoroughly enjoyed the charter. The crew was fabulous helpful, friendly, accommodating and particularly kind to our 8 year old granddaughter.

The yacht was spotless, comfortable and well maintained. The meals were excellent (both in) quality and presentation.

We would absolutely charter this yacht again . . . really cant think of anything we would change about this trip. Bijan and Roseanne were excellent companions and worked very hard to provide us with the best possible experience.

Roseanne. we couldn't have asked for better food, and will definitely be contacting you for some recipes! In planning our future vacations, we will definitely keep Anahita in mind. Or perhaps one day we will sail with you in our own boat, since both of us have been inspired to take up sailing.

Easter 2013- March 31st St. Thomas

Bijan & Roseanne

We want to thank you for another wonderful week of sailing, dining and enjoyment in the USVI and BVI. Your ability to make, "Your boat", into, "Our boat" makes sailing with you a completely enjoyable and memorable experience. No one does it better! And of course the food was gourmet level as we sailed-how-do-you-do it? You are both wonderful people that we very much appreciate having the opportunity to know and to sail (with). We wish you a safe crossing next month and look forward to sailing again.

Warm regards,
Ted & Kristen

Thanks to you and Rosanne for another great week of sailing and good adventure. You both have just the right touch for making guests feel welcome aboard, and for allowing them to enjoy the wonderful space of Anahita. Roseanne's meals were again worthy of a fine restaurant in Manhattan, and your sailing skills were on good display during the brief squall through which we sailed on our way to West End.

Best regards,

Thank you so much for taking us on this adventure of a lifetime! We are so grateful that you took us
on to your ANAHITA home, and made us feel so welcome.

We will always remember the art of the way SPOTS you found for us to play in, the relaxing evenings
having dinner on board and the many trips back and forth to shore at odd hours on the tender.

This is probably our last family trip together now that (our daughter) is moving on, and we couldn't be more pleased
with how it turned out. It is the end of an era for us but also a new beginning.

Thank you again for making it so special!

Dear Bijan and Roseanne:

Our fourth trip in four years. We have sailed the West Indies with you from Petite St. Vincent to St. Martin, ( And of course a lovely sejour along the coast of Maine).
This trip from St. Martin to St. Barth, Statius, Saba, St. Kitts and Nevis was magnified from the truly remarkable gourmet kitchen commanded by Roseanne to the superb sailing under Bijans guiding eye.
No detail was too small, no kindness overlooked. Your hospitality is without peer.
We all have had a wonderful rested week.

It is fair to say that- Having only sailed in the Mediterranean, and never in "Proper" oceans- I was somewhat worried regards crossing the Atlantic, my journey into the un known! I needn't have worried: From the moment I stepped aboard I felt at ease and very much enjoyed the crossing.

So many things for making it so easy: Well hosted!!

Best wishes to you both for much happiness together, kind seas and fair winds.,

We had a blast on our second charter with you! Thank you for all the special places you showed us: Like Tobago Cay's, Palm Island, Sandy Island, in Carriacou, and Saline Bay, (Amazing sunset).

We loved being on the open seas on Anahita. What a fortunate opportunity to have been able to sail with you on this lovely trip.

We loved the Grenadines more than the BVI's in that the weather was so much warmer, the water bluer, and the islands much greener.

Dear Bijan:
Sorry to be so slow getting back to you. I am still dreaming of the trip.
I think there could not be a better place to sail in August than Maine. Perfect cool weather, especially if one comes from a hot place, wonderful little harbors, both inhabited and not,
pefect scenery and great water for sailing. We could have used a little more wind, but certainly had some good ones, and hey, you take what you get in that department. Anahita was a great boat to make the trip on -- lots of sun, protection from the rain and wind if you want it, and great comfort, yet a boat capable of handling anything. When friends ask where I was, they are all terribly envious. I'd go again in a minute!
Best regards to you -- I hope the two week trip is as successful as ours was.

To: Bijan Judy and Fran,

I enjoyed enormously a 2 weeks' cruise with you all. Going to Roque Island was a unique experience, a highlight amongst others. Friendship forged while sailing is like discovering the truth that friendship may endure.
May your future have fair winds and calm seas.

Dear Bijan,

I enjoyed cruising along the Maine coast with you aboard S/Y Anahita. The boat is well balanced and sails well on all points. Going well to windward particularly is the test of a sailing vessel.
May you have fair winds and gentle seas.

Appolo and I have just spent the last week abord S/Y Anahita. We did some water skiing and snorkling. The sailboat performed very well under many different points of sailing.
We did two of our favorite hikes, one on Peter Island, and the other on Virgin Gorda.
The crew Captain Bijan, and cook Carmen were delightful and extremely pleasant. They worked very hard to satisfy our every whim. But when all was said and done we will miss them both. We truly hope that our paths will cross again.
An extremely delightful week, with a fabulous picnic on the beach on Anegada, and return to Sandy Spite Island with it's idyllic palm tree.
Wishing the both of you good winds,
Truly yours,
