As you depart with your charter yacht, the ferry channel marks to port, approach 350 degrees. A small marina provides a number of breath in 3 to 5 meters along a T-shaped pontoon with a fuel tank at the South side.
As the reef grounds stretches from the East and West of the shores and along the head of the bay, the anchoring is done 200 meters in to middle from the village dock. The bay sees a lot of yacht charter frequency during the high season, paying mooring buoys have been laid, furthur reducing the anchoring space.
General Information
Jost Van Dyke is a world distinct from other British Virgin Islands, and as the name indicates, Great Harbor is its largest harbor, which is the sole village of the Jost and the port of entry to the British Virgin Island.
Surrounded by high hills, Great Harbor is safeguarded from gusts of wind and has the largest population of the Island. There is a reef inside the harbor that covers hundreds of feet of the shore, which presents a great opportunity for coral snorkeling. It is an ideal spot for anchoring or mooring BVI charter vessels.

Restaurant and Amenities
Aside from anchoring, mooring has recently been added to the Great Harbor. The shore offers a lot do as well.
Rudy’s Mariner Inn
At the far southern side, there is Rudy’s Mariner Inn which happens to be the centerpiece in this harborage that provides lodging. There is a bar and a restaurant that serves freshly cooked seafood. The place has been recently facilitated with a grocery store.
Christine’s bakery
At Christine’s bakery, you will find freshly baked breads and buns. If you are looking for an alternative, the Ice House is just on the other side of the bakery.
JVD Methodist Church
On the right side of the Rudy’s, there is a winsome church called JVD Methodist Church, that carries the sign, “All are Welcome to Attend,” which outlines the warmth and the welcoming nature of the place.

Jost Van Dyke Scuba
Owned and run by Colin and Andre, Jost Van Dyke Scuba, is an amazing scuba shop where you can rent dinghy, fishing gear and paddleboards. Other than equipment rentals, they provide visitors with an opportunity to take diving lessons and to do scuba trips and snorkelling.
If you are tired of milling around the beach but always saving some energy to do something sporty, you can always switch to playing volleyball provided you bring one along with you.
Foxy’s Bar
Out of all the bars, restaurants and rest bars, Foxy’s Bar is the most popular and sought-after among yacht charter tourists. Known for the famous boat Regatta and organizing the most entertaining and sprightly parties, the owner of the bar, Foxy was recently knighted. With its live music and late-night beach parties, this bar is a heaven for partiers from all around the world.
