Nationality: South African

Rob and Belinda have been a couple for thirty years and have spent a large part of that time working together as a team.

They have a passion for world travel and adventure, and have the unforgettable stories to accompany their many unique life experiences. They both share a love of food and entertaining and will happily go the extra mile to accommodate guests.

Together, Rob and Belinda have vast experience on the ocean, their “happy place” as Rob refers to it. They spent four years cruising the world on their own catamaran with their two children and are anxiously awaiting their return to the sea where they can again set sail on Belle Vie.

CAPTAIN
Rob Bentley

Born in South Africa and growing up on the East coast of Kwa Zulu Natal, Rob has been a “water boy” his whole life. He is an accomplished sailor with over 30,000 sea miles under his belt on a range of vessels. This was achieved through skippering yachts and cruising along the African coast. Together with his family, he also spent four years cruising the East Coast of Africa, Indian Ocean, SE Asia, Indonesia, and Australia.

Rob has a passion for the ocean, and loves water sports. He is a qualified life saver, advanced diver and fisherman with a particular passion for salt water fly-fishing. He loves to go out and hopefully return with something delicious to toss on the BBQ. Mountaineering is Rob's other passion and he has hours of adventures on mountains spanning the globe.

When Rob is not out skippering and entertaining, you will see him working in the galley with Belinda. Cocktails and the BBQ are part of Rob’s regime, and he knows the perfect story to tell while you enjoy them!

Belinda Bentley

Born and raised outside of Durban, South Africa Belinda has spent her life close to the sea, camping, swimming, scuba diving and fishing as well as hiking and climbing the inland Drakensberg mountains. She is a ‘people’s person’ and in addition to her culinary training, is also trained as a professional nurse, specializing in maternity.

Belinda is a passionate cook who has been influenced by travel and time spent in many different countries. She is particularly fond of Asian cuisine, Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam, but also enjoys the Indian and Mediterranean influences. She loves to cook the ‘catch of the day’ as provided by Rob and pair it with local, fresh, seasonal ingredients. She enjoys bright and bold flavors, especially citrus notes which do well to compliment the Caribbean climate.

Waking up to fresh morning coffee and watching the sun set with drinks and appetizers are the absolute essence of life aboard and she can’t wait to welcome you!

Was the yacht comfortable and clean?
The yacht was absolutely spotless and beautiful. We were left wanting for nothing more. Everything we needed for the perfect vacation was available and in great working condition.

Was the yacht well ventilated?
Yes, we had no issues (as I have in the past!) with air conditioning or wind flow.

Was the crew friendly and accommodating?
The crew was spectacular. They provided the highest level of service possible. Everything, from the amazing food to the fantastic guidance on where to go and what to do, was perfect. I truly can't imagine a better crew to work with.
We left our trip feeling as if we've made life long friends.

Was the food good and well presented?
The food was fantastic. It was delicious and the variety was great. Belinda really worked to understand our likes and dislikes and adjusted every meal to fit our needs perfectly. Since arriving home we've been craving Belinda's food!!

Additional comments about the yacht and crew?
Rob was a fantastic captain. Not only did he work tirelessly to keep the yacht in perfect shape but he was also a great guide during the trip. He catered our itinerary around the needs of our entire group. Whether that was extreme amounts of snorkeling for some or extreme relaxation and bar hopping for others. We all got what we wanted out of our week long vacation of a lifetime!

Did you like the area you chartered in?
The BVI's were incredible! I can't imagine a more beautiful location. However, I would recommend traveling directly into Tortola as opposed to St Thomas and ferrying to Tortola which adds layers of complexity and cost that weren't very fun.

The crew were very friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely fabulous and far exceeded our expectations. Rob and Belinda went out of their way to make our charter one of the best vacations we have ever had. We would love to charter with them again. BVIs are fantastic.

Dear Belinda and Rob,
What a glorious time my family had sailing with you in the BVI’s! As we anticipate winter temps and probable frozen precip this evening, we are longing for Belle Vie, your hospitality and those warm, sunny islands!! I don’t think we can ever top the fun times and adventures we had with you. Thank you so much for giving all of us the trip of a lifetime. We had such fun!!!
Both of you were always right on hand to offer hospitality and adventures. Eliza, Brier and Lydia thought everything was amazing! What a fabulous array of delicious meals the “master chef” prepared. And the Captain was always spot on with a water toy or adventure. Indeed we were blessed to be on the Belle Vie with the two of you, who made our trip so memorable.
Thank you again so much. I hope 2022 finds you happily at sea enjoying your “empty nest” stage of life. Hope you get to see those Australian children of yours, too! Hey Rob and Belinda,

We cannot thank you enough for such a wonderful experience!

I honestly do not have the words to say what you two did for me personally. You were so kind to show me the ropes, let me get in the way and share some of your knowledge about sailing and the lifestyle that I couldn’t get anywhere else. My desire to sail has gotten a million times stronger thanks to the both of you.

On top of that, you made sure we still had a vacation of a lifetime! The food was absolutely amazing (even with all of our crazy dietary restrictions) and you two were always so willing to make sure we were at all the spots we wanted to be at.

All this while sharing bits of your South African culture with us. After a day or two I just felt like I was hanging out with two old friends.

Please keep us in mind once you visit the states. We would love to buy to two a drink and see how the charter life is treating you.

We wish you all the best. Maybe we will see you out on the sea sometime!

Spectacular charter!

Our charter was spectacular!

We had a wonderful time. The Boat was beautiful and spacious. Cam and Jada were excellent! They are such nice people. Cam is a great captain. he managed to schedule our trip around bad weather sneeking up on us. Jada is a marvelous cook. Every meal was expertly and deliciously prepared and served. Both of them are super nice. We had a great time playing cards at night with them and the kids. We hope they can visit us in Guatemala sometime.

February 2021 Bahamas

In general the trip was beyond perfect.

Cameron, the Captain, was always courteous, knowledgeable, and willing to go the extra mile. He made a perfect choice on the itinerary and accommodated our wishes with enthusiasm. On top of this, he was always enjoying whatever we decided to do.

Jada, was fantastic in all regards, the cooking was exquisite and hard to believe it could be done on board. In top of that she always had a smile and kept on pampering us throughout the day.

The menu was an amazing surprise every day while keeping in mind our preferences. I had never experienced three gourmet meals a day.

The boat was in perfect shape and decorated with taste. It was kept clean and everything worked.

We would charter this boat again in a heartbeat, but what really hooked us is the crew.

Highly Recommend!

I highly recommend choosing Belle Vie Catamaran in the Exuma's with Cameron and Jada. Hands down one of the best trips we have taken and that says a lot considering we have been all over the world and have already done a previous catamaran trip. Great boat, great destinations in the Exuma's with fantastic Marine and island life, fantastic crew that connected so well to my entire family and made the trip so fantastic. Sharks, huge spotted eagle rays, hammerhead, Manta rays, octopus, lobsters caught and eaten for dinner, numerous turtles, fish of incredible variety etc, etc!!!! Don't hesitate!!! Book with them!

Wow, just wow! Cameron & Jada are top notch in every way. Between organizing rendezvous diving at two locations, figuring out the best scuba & snorkel options along the route, we just came thank them enough. We may be the luckiest guests ever! Eagle rays, bull sharks, black tip, etc.! Turtles, turtles & turtles! Superb mixed drinks each night with delicious food cooked by Jada. Petting nurse sharks, visiting grotto’s, surf and wake boarding, mangroves full of turtles hiding from the sharks. Learning to sail and spear fish hunting was another highlight. We would follow and charter with Cameron & Jada around the world! Can’t thank them enough.

This has been such a great trip and Cam and Jada made it so much better. I loved all the food, game nights and snorkelling adventures.

Cameron and Jada were beyond fabulous. Our captain was vigilant and made us all feel safe and comfortable. He was extremely adaptable when the winds changed and meeting the desires of the passengers. Jada was an absolute master in the kitchen. We were repeatedly impressed and she just kept outdoing herself.

Cam and Jada take exceedingly great care of their customers. You can implicitly commit your trust in them and totally relax. Our Captain Cam and First Mate Jada were exceptional. No additional explanation is needed because it would not suffice. Just know you are in for a world-class customer care experience. On the open seas of competitive customer care, Cam and Jada sail the extra nautical mile leaving others in their wake.

Cameron and Jada made our trip MEMORABLE from the first contact via WA until the end at the farewell at Stanley Key.

Everyday was marvellous in the sense of the land escape as well as the food. Jada has a special charm and gift for the kitchen. She spoiled us from breakfast to dinner. Outstanding SURPRISE menu adapted to all preferences, we were pescatarians, vegetarians, and omnivores so all the shades on dietary matters. Even she made a cake to celebrate our birthdays. Thanks Jada.
Cameron's confidence as a captain was well executed. We felt at ease during our navigation, also he was very perceptive on the preference of each one, so he was attentive to our wishes either iit was to explore, fish, dive, or relax.

The catamaran was impecable, our rooms were refreshed everyday in a nice way.
Of course being in Exumas ensure an amazing scenery but beyond that, Jada and Cameron always add more by showing us if a dolphin, turtle, fish, shark or pigs were at our sight with a lovely cocktail created by one of them.

Definitely JADA AND CAMERON were the keynote to make this trip UNFORGETTABLE !!!

What an amazing time we had as guests on Belle Vie! Jada's cooking and thoughtfulness was fantastic. She really made every meal a delight! Cam did a wonderful job planning our itinerary and broke out the brain teasers at night! We will miss Belle Vie and her crew!
