BRAD & KRISTI

Brad Marquart grew up in a small Mississippi river town in Missouri. After completing a degree in Biology at a liberal arts college it was time for some adventure, and he left the Midwest for a new life on the ocean. He joined a commercial fisheries management consultancy in Alaska, working on fishing vessels to provide precise and timely data regarding fishery health directly to NOAA. After working aboard 12 large fishing and fish processing vessels operating out of Dutch Harbor and Juneau, he traded the Bering Sea for the Rocky Mountains and moved to Denver, Colorado. There he started as a bioenergy researcher developing alternatives to mining coal, before switching gears and becoming an environmental scientist liaising between the oil and gas industry and state regulatory bodies. However, his previous life on the ocean had left a mark.

Upon meeting Kristi, the new team set out to reconnect with previous careers on the water. Denver provides perhaps the most landlocked American Sailing School in the USA, and Kristi and Brad took every class they had time for. They left Denver for the east coast where they assisted with a sailboat delivery, and then took to new careers aboard a 74 foot charter ketch here in the Virgin Islands, which led to Brad earning his USCG 100-ton Master Captain’s license and moving on to operate charter catamarans. Now in his fifth year in the term charter industry, Brad has also earned an advanced scuba certification and enjoys sharing chef’s and guide duties with his wife. An innate naturalist, he loves identifying fish and watching their behavior. He loves life most when guiding snorkel and hiking excursions in the beautiful Virgin Islands and when winding down with our always-interesting guests after a memorable day.

Kristi Marquart has a diverse background within the charter boat and restaurant industries. Her culinary interest sparked at an early age in her family’s restaurant and brewery in Kansas, where she worked every position throughout high school and college. Eager to grow in the hospitality industry after graduating from KU, Kristi went on to manage three successful restaurant openings across the country with a company that believed in serving real food sourced from American farmers. She has always loved to cook for friends and family but it was her experience working alongside talented chefs and restaurateurs that ultimately groomed Kristi for her role as the chef aboard Sea Esta. Her cuisine style utilizes fresh ingredients that bring both color and flavor to the plate. She obtains high quality cuts of meat and locally sourced eggs, produce and seafood (when available). Her menus are made with her guests preferences in mind, and she loves the creative freedom of serving beautiful meals that become a conversation piece over the table. Chef Kristi recently expanded her culinary repertoire while attending a two-week Yacht Chef course at the Ashburton Cookery School in England, where she trained under talented chefs with Michelin star backgrounds. Her cuisine style utilizes fresh ingredients that bring both color and flavor to the plate, and her menus are made with the guests’ preferences in mind. Kristi loves the creative freedom of serving beautiful meals that become a conversation piece over the table.

Kristi also holds a USCG 100-ton Master Captain’s license, a bachelor's degree in environmental science, an advanced diver certification, and ten years of experience handling various boats along the coasts of California, Georgia, South Carolina, and throughout the entire Eastern Caribbean. This is her eighth season operating charter boats out of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Kristi & Brad are honored to call Sea Esta home and will ensure your vacation is the kind you smile about for years to come.

SY & KARA
Originally from Atlanta, Ga, Sy was born in 1987 to a family rooted in hospitality and travel. His passion for the ocean began early during his summers on the shores of Amelia Island, Fl. After college he spent nearly a decade in hospitality management. Prior to finding his passion as a Merchant Marine he managed an event venue and Historic Bed and Breakfast in Amelia Island. In early 2017, Sy stumbled upon the beautiful islands of the Florida Keys. Although initially a three month sabbatical from work sailing on a friends Cheoy Lee, the journey quickly changed his life forever. The crystal clear waters and fruitful life offered in Key West captured his heart. Three of the past four years he has spent sailing catamarans for FURY Water Adventures.

Born in Perth, Western Australia in 1988 and raised in the harbor city of Darwin, Northern Territory. Kara is the oldest of eight adventurous children raised in the bush of the Outback. Her father inspired the love of the sea with regular sails along the coast of northern Australia and throughout neighboring Indonesia. After a career driving haul trucks in the mines of Australia she set off to explore the world. Living throughout Indonesia, Thailand, and Europe she eventually found her way to the US. After a two year stay in New York City she found her way to eclectic Key West, Fl in 2016, soon there after taking work as a crew member with FURY Water Adventures.

Sy and Kara’s love for each other started with their mutual love for the ocean. They met while working with FURY and living on neighboring boats in the mooring field of Key West. They have spent the last 3 years together growing as a couple as well as individuals. Kara worked as chef and mate for a charter spearfishing company as well as working during the summers as ground support and chef for a TP52 Series Team in Europe. Sy has grown from mating on 65’ catamarans to becoming a proficient captain of the vessels, and eventually becoming fluent with all the catamarans in the FURY portfolio. Together these guys have driven across two countries and circumnavigated the continent of Australia in their faithful LandCruiser. They are a polished well rounded duo who aren’t afraid to roll their sleeves up in the name of adventure.

JEFF & DANI

Jeff is originally from California and spent most of his childhood as Freestyle skier and snowboarder in Lake Tahoe. In the summers, he would enjoy the waters of the lake parasailing, jet skiing and boating. He found his true calling was watersports. In search of warmer weather and salt water, he moved to Key West. He got his foot in the door with the boating world with boat building which progressed quickly into becoming a chief mate and ultimately the worldwide Captain he is today. Jeff established himself as an exceptional Motor Yacht and Sailing Yacht delivery Company working all over the world including Trans-Atlantic crossings. Captain Jeff finally discovered the USVI and BVI for term charter operations, one of his favorite places in the world. Jeff followed his thirst for the ocean and developed his passion for spear fishing, scuba and snorkeling, sailing, free diving, lobstering, and enjoying marine life.

Captain Jeff has sailed all over the crystal blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. Wherever you want to sail to find your dream vacation Jeff will know the perfect spot, whether you want to be in the mix of the island, hiding with the locals, or even on a private island.

Chief Danielle "Dani" Andrews

Born and raised in Florida, Dani grew up with a tremendous love for the ocean and the outdoors, which continue to bring her joy and a sense of comfort. From an early age, curiosity and excitement were instilled as her father began teaching her the way around the kitchen. Her later career in hospitality industry throughout her college years helped mold her understanding of the ins and outs of the restaurant world.

After obtaining her Associate in Arts from Valencia College she embarked on her first adventure to Hawaii while working on cruise ships. This was where she got her first taste and joy for life on the water. Living and working on the beautiful islands only deepened her passion for people and cooking abroad. Traveling and experiencing new cultures is a life-changing experience she dreams of offering to others.

The following year, she decided to trade the big ship life for a more fulfilling pursuit, where she could connect on a deeper level with her guests and let her true passion for the culinary arts come to life, playing with her creativity in food menus and toying with new delicious experiments. After her first trip as a chef aboard a sailing yacht in Portugal she knew she’d found this opportunity, and for the last 3 years she has been working on sailing yachts in Portugal, Croatia, and the Virgin Islands; this has allowed her to travel to over 20 different countries increasing her knowledge of alternative cuisines and her love of sailing.

It is not hyperbole to say that this trip is the best catamaran sail we have experienced, by far! Not only is the vessel the most comfortable and most well-equipped, but paired with the best crew, it was a home run! For instance:
-Brad is a highly capable sailor and technician. We felt safe at all times. He is happy, supportive, and attentive.
-Kristi is a multi-talented chef, mariner, and wife with many interests. Every day on this trip Kristi showed her creativity and knowledge of the passengers' needs and differing tastes. We never had 2 meals that were the same, and each one was literally better than the last one, no matter the cuisine. At most meals, after the first bite, I went "wow!" Kristi also never let our water bottles and drink glasses run dry without a cheerful, "What else would you like?"
-We've been sailing on smaller catamarans and this one was much, much better.
-It is clear that Brad & Kristi are an ideal pair -- they not only love each other, but they work flawlessly as a team to make the boat run smoothly.
-All in all, I rate this experience a clear 6-stars (on a 5-star scale)!

A week of wonder: sea turtles, white beaches, sunset hikes, big fish caught, and happy little boys. Brad & Kristi- we can hardly imagine a more perfect introduction to the world of boating through the BVIs. From the moment we stepped on board, your gracious hospitality was apparent. Brad's calm demeanor at the helm immediately put our group of first-time sailors at ease and Kristi's culinary wizardry had us practically licking our plates after every meal. You accommodated our every request, from making a different breakfast for me each morning, to tethering Genesis to Sasha so that we could enjoy time together with our friends in the evenings. We now appreciate the challenges that process entailed so thank you so much for your willingness to make it happen. We are still in awe of how you work together as a team without ever losing your patience. Roger would have kicked me overboard before we left the marina! You were fantastic with the teens, who are now obsessed with playing Dutch Blitz! Each morning, they excitedly scanned the board to see what special drink you'd be whipping up for them later. Brad- you indulged our endless questions about "what island is that?" and "how big is that boat?" while entertaining us with tales of shipwrecks and dead movie stars. Kristi- you indulged our inner foodies with amazing meals, none of which involved Doritos. The coconut cake you made for the twins' 15th birthday was the culmination of a week of fantastic cuisine and we are still raving about the freshly squeezed margaritas and Ocean Cosmos. Thank you for treating our friends as though they were your guests, going out of the way to make them feel at home on our boat, and for taking turns hosting teen dinner parties so the adults could enjoy time together. Thank you for tolerating our obsession with Stepbrothers, tarpon wrestling, and sub-par conch blowing. We feel like we have two new friends in the world who partially get our weird sense of humor.
Our door in Atlanta is always open so please come visit us so that Leslie can cook for you and Roger can clean up afterward!

The Hubert’s were great! Very personable and accommodating. The food was always very good and we never went hungry. The locations we went never disappointed and they were very knowledgeable of the area. The boat was great and looked brand new.

Sy and Kara delivered an exceptional first charter experience for my wife, myself, and our two children (10 and 2 years old). Our preference sheet requests were all adhered to, including a strict gluten free diet for my wife, a stop at a sports bar to watch the Cowboys Thanksgiving day football game, a traditional Thanksgiving turkey dinner with all the accoutrements, and a beach pirate treasure hunt for the children. Speaking of our children, we could not have asked for a better crew to cater to their needs, or to the needs of us weary parents who were initially worried about the possibility of having to chase our toddler in circles around the yacht rather than being able to sit back and relax and enjoy the journey. Our worries proved wholly unfounded, as Kara graciously stepped in repeatedly not only to care for our toddler while we were onboard so that we could sit back and relax, but she also generously offered (and we delightfully accepted) to care for our little one on the yacht on several instances where we wanted to do activities on shore or go diving/snorkeling toddler-free. Put simply, Kara was fantastic with both of our children, putting us greatly at ease and allowing us to get the relaxation and break we so desperately needed on this holiday vacation. As for the beach private treasure hunt that we requested for the kids, both Sy and Kara spent several days carefully planning and plotting the hunt, and executed it so amazingly well — complete with Sy donning a pirate costume and accent, and a handmade treasure map along with clues hidden along the beach, both on land and under water—that observant guests with children on other yachts were asking if they could participate! When it comes to the meals onboard Easir II, both Sy and Kara’s culinary talents were readily evident from day 1 of the charter, serving us culinary delights which quite literally had as wondering, is there some way we could afford to simply stay aboard this vessel with this crew indefinitely? My personal favorites when it came to their cuisine were their Asian-influenced dishes, such as shrimp summer rolls, a delightful seafood in homemade green curry, and a perfectly seared ahi tuna appetizer with a gluten-free soy ginger glaze, all of which seamlessly blended local fresh seafoods with scratch-made sauces and dressings. When all was said and done, all of our trepidations as first-time charterers with little ones onboard proved completely unfounded, as Sy and Kara expertly and precisely provided the magical and restful vacation for which we had hoped. We would not hesitate to sail with them again, and though we returned from our journey just yesterday, we all—especially our toddler, who refers to Kara lovingly as “Aria”—miss them already. We wish to extend our sincerest gratitude to them both!

We were so absolutely pleased with the Huberts. They were fun and we enjoyed our time with them. Not only experienced at sailing, navigating our catamaran but they were exceptional cooks with gourmet meals served every day. If we get the chance to sail again, we will definitely request the Huberts.

My family rated this experience as our best-ever trip. The USVI's waters were pristine, and our experiences hiking and snorkeling was better than we expected. What elevated our experience from great to exceptional was Sy and Kara. They are fun, engaging, interesting and they catered to our every need. We highly recommend the Hubert's!

The Hubert's were amazing right from the start. They were laid back enough to allow us to do what we wanted but take charge enough to keep us on track. We can't imagine a better curated experience.

Captain Sy made us feel completely safe. He certainly knows what he's doing at the helm. (Kara is close behind) The boat was always clean and tidy.

The food was spectacular! Every meal was better than the last. A truly decadent experience.

Wow! What an amazing experience! I cannot imagine taking this trip with any crew other than Sy and Kara. Sy was a a master captain, explaining every part of our trip and answering all of our logistic-related questions with ease. He remained flexible throughout and was sure to cater to all of our needs. Kara was an excellent hostess. Our hands were never empty - whether it was a refreshing water, juice, or craft cocktail, she does it all! Kara was excellent company on board while still managing to be professional and service all of our needs. Additionally, I cannot rave enough about the amazing food on our charter. Both Sy and Kara made impressive meals and I never left the table hungry. I appreciate their willingness to accommodate my somewhat limited pallet and love that I got to try so many delicious new things! I have never been so well catered to on any trip. Shhhhhh, don't tell anyone, the Hubert's are the best hosts and have the best charter on the USVIs. We don't want them to become so popular, they'll be booked the next time we want to go sailing. Every aspect of being on the boat with the Hubert's was a 10+. The boat was clean and thoughtfully appointed. No detail was missed. A basket of personalized snacks, fresh basil and herbs, a stocked bar, and exceptional food. They took a genuine interest in all the guests, adults and our children. Snorkeling, fishing, tubing, sub winging, card playing, board gaming were all part of the daily agenda.....all while providing three incredible meals a day - along with mid-morning and afternoon snacks. Their response to any question, need or request was always "yes" - now what was your question? Whether on the boat or in the water, I felt my children were safe and cared for at all times. We couldn't have asked for a better vacations.

The Huberts were everything we could have hoped for and more. Their enthusiasm, their knowledge, their food, their spirit and their generosity of time and attention to everyone, including the 10 and 12 year old boys, was exceptional. Though they asked repeatedly about how they could be more accommodating, they left us wanting for nothing. The entire charter was a pleasure from start to finish. I felt relaxed, safe and sated with service and sunshine. I would do it again tomorrow and recommend the Huberts highly for anyone lucky enough to spend time in their company.

My wife and I traveled to the Caribbean many times on cruises and at all-inclusive resorts but we have never had a vacation like this. We had an absolute blast snorkeling, free diving, hiking, sailing, fishing, paddle boarding, knee boarding, riding the sub wing, and especially eating.
