David and Emily met and married on the beautiful island of Kauai. There, they were flourishing, David working as a finish carpenter on luxury estates and Emily cooking as a private chef. Every afternoon when they would get off work and see the ti leaves swaying, they’d race down to Hanalei Bay to take their Nacra 20 out for a zip thru the water. Soon after saying, “I do”, they bought a 44’ Kelly Peterson, a classic ocean going vessel. They quickly closed down shop, moved off of Hawaii, and began prepping the boat to head south to Mexico. They took off from San Diego in December 2018 and began their adventure of a lifetime. Sailing down the primitive coasts of Baja, where all you see is brown and blue to Zihuatanejo Mexico, where they passed the March 2019 shut down on a secluded island with 5 other boats. They’ve surfed the coasts, fished big game, and even seen sea monsters! Their biggest challenge was crossing by themselves to Hawaii, the longest ocean passage in the world. It was 21 days of riding a roller coaster and they were hooked! They returned by passing under the Golden Gate Bridge on a clear, cloudless morning with no other boats around. Now, they are based full time in Mexico, cruising in the winter months and developing their property in the summer. Expect to see some flavor and spice on your plate!
David grew up in a boat yard in Oceanside, CA. He moved to Hawaii when it was time for a fresh start. Hawaii is known to either accept you or throw you out, and it welcomed him with open arms. He raced on Olson 30s in beer car races and across the treacherous Kauai channel to Oahu. He worked on stunning homes with vistas of the ocean. His sense of adventure and charging attitude will keep your trip moving forward! He is always trolling lines off the back and loves to reel in dinner.
Emily moved to Hawaii from Jackson, WY, where she was running an all organic and vegan bakery. It was like a light bulb going off when she learned of private chefing..as if “AH! This is what I’m supposed to do!” After a tasting trial at the head concierge’s house, her career took off. Her inspiration comes from sourcing the most beautiful ingredients she can find. She loves going to farmers markets and meeting other people passionate about creating high vibrancy foods.
We look forward to sharing our stories and learning about yours during our charter together. Feel free to kick back and relax or get involved and learn more about sailing and fishing from us. No matter your style, we will teach you our motto…”We out here living our best life!”

Captain David and Chef Emily -
Thank you for an amazing week, for taking good care of us, and for showing us all the beauty of the British Virgin Islands. This was our first sailboat experience and has been a special week for our family. We are not boat people, and didn't grow up boating, but after this experience, we all can understand the appeal and the allure of the open sea. Safe travels to you both, and best of luck in all your future adventures. You are both such wonderful people and we are so thankful we got to meet you.
All our Love,
Shawn, Andrea, Connor, and Paige

Captain David and Chef Emily,
Wow! A week flies by so fast and we are sad to see it end. But what a week it was!! I knew from our initial call that this week was going to be very special but both of you "blew it out of the water"!
Thank you so much for some very memorable meals & cocktails Emily. Your passion for healthy cooking shines through and the food was so good! David, thank you for showing our group all the beauty that is the BVI. We were so fortunate to see so much in such a short time.
We especially want to thank you for planning an itinerary that included some dives, wildlife (such as hiking), snorkeling, and beach trips. We had an amazing time and I can say this was the best trip I've been on (You can tell Gailin Hank I said that!).
Stay in touch and best of luck with your future plans.

David & Emily,
Thank you for your hospitality, professionalism & kindness. You two run the boat flawlessly & effortlessly. Your teamwork as a couple is fun to watch. Our family had an enjoyable time decompressing, relaxing, and "chillin" on Lady Catron. The week flew by! David - your boatmanship is top-notch - you proved your merits as a sailor & captain. We felt safe and confident every nautical step of the way. Emily - your food was simply delicious. I say simple because you made it look effortless. When did you do all that?? Fresh, flavorful and thoughtfully adapted to our kids' preferences! While our Christmas celebration was short, we were happy to share it with you two. We wish you both a journey in life with calm waters, beautiful sunsets and memories deep as the ocean.
Much aloha

Dear David and Emily,
This was high key the best vacay EVER!!! Fish galore spotted rays and a misplaced octopus - what else can we say?? Oh yeah, the food - AMAZING... Fresh caught Spanish Mackerel ceviche?? Need I say more?? Everything was top notch, drinks and meals were so tasty. Kids loved the fruit selection and adults the drink selection (kid too)! Thank you most for taking care of us - watching us while we snorkeled, sailing us safely & ensuring everyone got the food/drinks they want. Happy and healthy 2024!!!

Emily's daily cocktails put us in a trance, The espresso martinis made us pole dance. The yoga was great, we loved the Soft Norm, David's sailing is perfection and Emily's food is the bomb. Hanging on the boat, listening to "License to Chill," The Cooper Island Rumfest gave us a license to chill. How did we ever live without Deb & Peter? and that amazing breakfast of bagels and lox? David's a pro and helped us pull in the mahi fish, Then Emily cooked it up to make another fabulous dish! Lady Catron was magical, And the water so blue, Thank you for making Laura's 40th A dream come true!
XOXO
