Navigation
The pass through the Eustatia Sound barrier reef should only be trodden by your charter yacht during quiet weather when you will get excellent visibility. If you hold Saba Rock on a back bearing of 230-degrees afar as the barrier reef, you’ll find the main opening to seaward. From this point onward you have to keep your eye open and pass eastwards avoiding the deeper reef patches north of the exit.
General Information
Eustatia reef is a coral reef in the Eustatia Sound.
The Eustatia Sound Barrier Reef is visited by a large number of BVI yacht charter guests as it provides some of the best snorkelling spots in the whole British Virgin Islands. Approaching these spots is tricky and should be done only in good weather condition. You must take a dinghy to the snorkelling spot and be very slow and careful around the reefs as it is very shallow and could easily damage your dinghy. If you don’t want to get wet but want to take a tour of the reef, there are facilities for glass bottom boats just for you.
