Great Harbour of Peter Island is a popular commercial fishing spot and BVI yacht charter destination. It has excellent depth all around and is well protected. It is a pretty straightforward path, the only danger being the large can that marks the southeast corner of the marine park. It is slightly east at the mouth of the harbour.
It is best to move up into the southeastern corner of the harbor. The southeastern corner provides the best protection and anchoring in deep water. While sailing in your chartered yacht, just be careful not to tangle with other fishing boats around. The eastern shore gives you a nice anchoring but its still deeper than 30feet.
If you are looking for a mooring for your chartered yacht, you can head to the southwest corner, on the western side of the Great Harbour. After you have moored you can dinghy yourself to shore on the southeastern side of Great Harbour. From there you can reach Sprat Bay, the Peter Island Hotel and Deadman’s Bay on foot.
Spanning an astounding 1779 acres, Peter Island is a private Island in the British Virgin Islands. It is about 8 kilometers southwest from Tortola. It was purchased by a sailor in 1978. The beaches on the island provide mind-blowing views of the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, and the Sir Francis Drake Channel, which lures tons of yacht charter tourists every year. The Honeymoon beach and the White bay are restricted for guest use only. The largest beach on the Island is the Deadman’s Bay. It is a mile long half-moon beach that has numerous bars and restaurants open to travelers.
